In late May 2000, I departed for Madrid as part of a student archaeology / cultural management class, led by the University of Minnesota. As part of the course, I had the opportunity to work on two archaeological digs, including the Villa de Materno, the most complete collection of Roman mosaics ever found. At the time, the site was not open to the public.
